Whip up a bag of these Easy and Elegant Holiday Food Gifts in a few hours. Healthy eating intentions can take a big hit during the Holiday season. There is a mindset that holiday time is the time to let go and eat, drink and be merry. This usually means loads of sugar and really, really processed foods. Crackers and cookies are prolific this time of year and it can be so difficult to find good eats and sticking to your idea of what constitutes whole, healthy food choices. There is nothing wrong with a bit of sugar and a cracker or two, but with trays of cookies literally laying around it all gets a bit confusing. I don’t like to add to this chaos and I am not a proponent of justifying awful food choices just because it is a holiday. People often ask me what kind of food gifts I give if not loads of traditional cookies. Well, I splurge on a few cookies but they are made with real ingredients and are fairly low on the sugar scale. I make a bag of these Easy and Elegant Holiday Food Gifts to encourage people to put out savory, healthy eats with just one or two sweets so I make up a few low sugar cookie recipes: Biscotti and Mexican Wedding Cookies, marinate some healthy, organic Olives, toast some Tamari Spiked Nuts, bake some Cheddar Crackers, add a little container of Roasted Red Pepper Dip, toss in a bottle of Organic Wine and deliver a basket of semi healthy snacks so friends can pull it all out for an impromptu get together….minus the bad food hangover.
