Creamy and sweet with a kick, Sweet Chili Roasted Yams are a great side dish when you need something substantial yet flavorful. You can use Yams or Sweet Potatoes. Pre boiling them makes this a pretty fast dish. Make a lot. They disappear fast. They are really good cold for lunch boxes with Yogurt Green Curry Sauce.
Sweet Chili Roasted Yams

Yield 4 -6 Servings
Easy, sweet, spicy and melt in your mouth good. Use large Yams or Sweet Potatoes.
Ingredients
- 4-6 large Yams or Sweet Potatoes, peeled
- 4 tablespoons Sweet Chili Sauce or Honey and a sprinkle of dried Chilis
- 1 tablespoon Tamari or Soy Sauce
- a few grinds Black Pepper
- finely chopped Cilantro
- 1/2 Lime
Instructions
- Cut the Potatoes in half then into thirds so you have wedges
- Boil a large pot of water and drop in the Potatoes, cook 8-10 minutes. They should be firm still, drain
- Heat the oven to 210c or 425f
- Sprinkle some Olive Oil on one or two large baking sheets
- Put the baking sheet in the hot oven about 5 minutes
- Toss the Potatoes with the Chili Sauce and Soy Sauce mixture
- Remove the pans from the oven and toss on the Potatoes (be careful it will splatter)
- Leave plenty of room between the Potatoes, you want them to roast, not steam
- Return to the oven 12-15 minutes until well browned
- Sprinkle with chopped Cilantro and a squeeze of Lime
